my 406 peugeot car makes this irritating rattling sound from the rear, what can i do to stop it

sound like your universal joint ( U joint)are bad.

Take it to the local scrap merchant, see how much he will give you for it. Then use that money to buy something else

could be your exhaust comming loose from its clips or rubbers it can some times knock and cause a ratle. Thats what happened to mine when l got it checked out.

However im a female so l would sugest:

U take to a garage n get it checked out, u could also take alook underneath and check the exhaust is secure.
