fix it yourself
remove it and test the fan to be sure it is the fan that is broken

or take it to an automotive electric shop

they can replace the broken part or rebuild the fan for around $100

oops now l see you said wiring loom
well it is silly to replace all that for just the fan
an auto electric guy will be able to find the fault or run 1 wire along the loom to fix it

l have a deep mistrust of mechanics anyway, they're only in it to line their own pockets but my heater matrix sprung a leak, had to replace it which meant they had to take the whole dashboard out to get to it. Cost about £200

Main agencies charge £90 per hour labour, and some. How much was the loom by itself?

These cars r regarded as difficult to repair,That means that even simple jobs take time ,An auto electrician would have been able to repair the loom; After finding the fault & practically taking the car to pieces to get at it.
But all this takes a great deal of time & a main dealer has a duty to do this job correctly. And time is money u see this on the bills.
As for the cars r crap , l agree. Buy Japanese u can drive for years without any problems whatsoever. l do.

l dont think they mean the whole loom as wiring looms in cars r plugged in stages. If u know what part of the loom is at fault u can get a second hand part from a reputable breaker. As l dont Know what part of the loom is at fault it is hard to say if its the part or the labour thats more, chances r the whole dash has to be removed to access & repair the wiring.

Honestly, l would advise u to visit a few auto electricians & see what they come up with & their cost to fix ur car, dont forget, main dealers charge main dealers rates.
As ur car is so new, & if it does turn out to be the loom, shop around & get the best quote from an auto electrician.

l Just had a thought, u could have it repaired free by Peugeot should it turn out to be a fault to ur cars wiring loom as a result of the loom being damaged by it being routed near parts of ur car like exhaust, heater control levers etc where it could wear the wiring out. Have u a friend who is mechanically & electrically minded on cars if so have him or her to have a good look over the loom but dont move anything if he or she finds that the wiring has been damaged by bad manufacturing. Call Peugeot UK direct & see if ur car has had a recall or if anyone else has complained about the same prob, this is when ur car can be recalled when lots of other owners of the same model of car complain or take their cars into the dealers with the same prob which could cause ur car to go on fire.

One thing l will say is, l owned a 306 which when l called my local dealer & asked if there were any recalls outstanding on my car, l was informed that there was a recall on the wiring to the lights which was being chaffed which could have also caused a fire. Ok ur car is only 4 years old, r u the origional owner? even if u r not if there is any recalls Peugeot should be able to contact u via the DVLA, but it is still a good idea to phone & ask ur dealer if there has been any recalls on ur car & if any r outstanding, l was lucky as l phoned myself otherwise l may not have found out.

Good luck. Please let me know how u get on.

Jimmy Essex England

Ps, l dont think l understood ur question properly before l answered ur question writing all this down, but keep ur receipt if u have had the work done, so if it turns out to be a regular fault on all 307 is then hopefully u should be refunded in full by Peugeot, so keep listening incase it turns out to be a recall.

Re the person who said an auto electrician could repair the loom & be cheaper, l agree with him, if it is burnt or broken wires he can repair or rejoin the broken wires, however the cause of the wiring fault will have to be diagnosed & put right first before repairing the wiring, otherwise u will get the same problem again but then this time u may not be so lucky, u could be driving on the motorway at night time, so its dark inside ur car & u could be on the outside lane doing 70 mph without noticing that ur car is about to burst into flames, think about it.
