I've tested the key (l originally thaught it might be the battery in the key) and it works OK in the shop but does not activate the locks automatically when l point it at the car & press the button - is there a fuse that might have failed or anything more sinister ?

Also, the rear wiper does not work (wash is OK) - could that also be a fuse ?

Tim, try taking the car to the nearest dealer. the electronics might now work ok. they DO THIS ON EVERY Friggin AMERICAN CAR!!! (4 MR COWBOY). Yeah & also, it is a small problem, Peugeot didn;t have major recalls every year like American Brands. So you`ll be fine. Enjoy ur car is great, l learnt to drive on a 02 HD l but it was a 307 :) nice car. french rule..
Unfortunately, my own friggin GOV won`t let me import my own 407 from France cuz they stupid. & yes. it`s the US gov.

It could be a fuse or bad censor.
