Sorry to be a nuisance but the instructions you gave me were not for a Automatic spring loaded tensioner.Any idea how to fix a pulley on the automatic one .Please .

Steven J thats l have emailed what you said to husband he said that sounds like it .
Now another question how on earth does he get to it ?As l said before we have put the belt on but he cant see how he can get to the pulley .

To reset the spring loaded pulley on a Pug engine.You need to slacken the holding bolt or bolts slightly ,then lever it back,then tighten the bolt to hold it there while you fit the belt.Once you get the belt on slacken the tensioner bolt and it will tension up the belt,then re tighten again!Hope this helps,if not ?ask 4more details

its nice 2 be wanted :) right.. is it the one where the bolt that holds the pulley on a star bit (torx)? if it is then if ur just changing the pulley it self them u just remove the bolt was l think is a 45 torx is bit (star bit). if its the whole tensioner then should be a bolt about 1 - 2 inch is behind the pulley which l think is 17mm or 19mm can not remember off the top of my head. remove the bolt & the tensioner should come off. when putting back there is a hole to move the pulley so u can fit the belt.

to make life easier if u remove the engine mount which is a 16mm nut u can jack up the engine & get to it easier,but use a jack to take the weight of the engine before removing the engine mount. they dont make life easy
