go into 5th or reverse, and the others are very unreliable, as in it will go into gear sometimes but not others.

l think that there is a loose connection between the gearstick and gearbox but I am not sure.

Anyone had this problem? Hard to fix? Cheers

If u had a loose connection, then it would NEVER go into that gear. Loose, as in the connecting linkage has separated, between gearshift lever & transmission??

A more likely thing to check is the adjustment of ur clutch cable. If it is too loose, & ur foot pedal cannot go down far enough to release the clutch plate, then it is very difficult to shift gears.

Has ur foot pedal sunk lower to the floor in the last few months?
When was the last time u had a new clutch?
How many miles on ur car now?

they have a few linkages that wear, but it sounds like it could be a gearbox oil problem. please let me know exactly when it happens & l will try to help you out
