Hi, My girl friend has a 5 yr old 206.When she is manouvering at slow speed with full or nearly full wheel lock on, there is a low pitched creaking from the front suspension.

Any suggestions what this could be.Is it dangerous?

Get it checked out by a mechanic. l am no professional on these matters

Sounds like possibly her shocks/struts. It is not so much dangerous as a nuisance with the sound.

Yes, it is dangerous. Take it to the garage.

could be several things causing the creak:could be caused by wheel bearings, shocks/struts, springs, and /or bushings in fron suspension. for a better diagnosis take to ase certified mechanic.

If its only doing it when full lock is on it could be the steering rack, otherwise could be a bush or any number of suspension parts.

if its got mudflaps make sure they aint touching the wheel on lock, otherwise its probably the lower balljoint.

the cc model had a problem with the lower arm (front) bush
you need to get an lower arm
peugeots were common for the roadspring breaking at the top
normal 206 is are common for droplinks
you realy need to get it checked

at a guess i'd say either your suspension coil has broke (quite common on peogeouts and citroens). or the damper has worn out. Take it to a garage and get it checked out

It is not dangerous, it will go on forever like that. It is caused normally by bushes that are starting to wear. But they will never go properly as they are always supported and jammed in place by the weight of the car. It wo not even fail the MOT like that.

In many circumstances you will end up with more problems after you try to have it fixed as drive shafts often get damaged while trying to replace them, which is a major job.
