Peugeot 307. The remote central locking fob isnt working! Have been told l can only take it to a Peugeot dealership for batteries to be changed! True or false?

if l can purchase the batteries from somewhere else, where and how much roughly?

Car will open through pressing button on fob, but l have to lock with key on drivers door,(button wont work) is it just the batteries or is there another problem for me

Thanks in advancex

If you can open but not lock, it sounds as thought it would be more than the battery. Get it checked out by a Peugeot Dealer.

This is a famous Peugeot problem u can get the batteries anywhere they r around £2 each & l think u need two l would try replacing both batteries first before worrying about anything else. But if u still have the locking problem after that then its a problem with the sensor or electrics & well l hope its just the batteries because u could be out alot of money & so soon after Xmas. Hope this has helped & do not worry too much about it just means using the key for a while. Try getting someone u know to do the work for u if needed as u will pay a fortune if going through the dealer.

anyone can change the batteries but as suggested if it will open with fob then very unlikely the batteries sounds like youve got a duff fob, try taking outer casing off (just undo the screw and prize two halves apart theres a gap at the back that you can get acoin in) you will see two little button switches just make sure theres nothing jammed ,try pressing the button without the fob around it. if it still dont work its most likely a duff fob.

Ok if ur key is the same as the one on my 306 then u can do the following -
go to batteryforce.co.uk & pick up 2 CR2032 batteries for as little as 88p each.
Secondly as long as u have a secondary key for ur car u can program it ur self!
- Using the second key turn the ignition to the accessories stage (first click)
- Then hold the key u wish to program up to the interior light as this is generally where the receiver is located.
- Press the large central locking button on the key & wait 5 seconds followed by the small deadlock button if this exsists on ur key & wait a further 5 seconds.
- Finally remove the other key, close the door & hopefully success!
l had to do this for one of my keys & it worked first time, although l had the same problem with another key & replacing the batteries worked. btw to replace the batteries u should remove the single screw & then prise the key open, be sure to replace the screw as this holds the silver part in!! sorry for the lenght of this post!
