My car is a T reg 406 HDl with 70K. l have an infrequent but dangerous problem. When accelarating - but not severely - l get a slight judder from the engine like a slight misfire whereby the engine shuts down completely. Dashboard lights remain on.The car can be restarted but the engine is highly likely to shut down again.Anyone have similar problems and ?

You have a erratic short that is grounding out your electrical system periodically. You will need to take it to a professional to have it fixed. It is usually a simple repair but sometimes a real pain to find.

HDi engines r known for this problem. Its most likely to be with the fuel side. On the fuel rail there is a switch called the fuel pressure regulator on the bottom of the fuel rail which collects everything in the fuel including metal filings. If u remove the switch,clean it & refit it that sometimes does the job. If not, best thing the do it to is to go to ur nearest garage with diag so that u know what the problem is & u do not spend money u do not have to
