My local garage man says it can not be fixed but maybe some genius out there can come up with a solution. By the by there are fewer than 30000 kilometres on the clock.

not really as its such an old car it will not have been supplied with sensors as they are only just recent accessories for cars but because yor peugeot is a 1991 parts will be really hard to locate anyway but the sensors to indicate the lights left on is a no no sorry

l do not know what planet your garage man is on but he is wrong and the others who have answered your question are not much better

It is just a buzzer wired into the lighting circuit.

Buy it in Halfords for about a fiver and follow the instructions.

You will need a buzzer and a relay, the relay is fed from the door switch that turns the interior lights on and is switched by the headlight circuit so that it only operates when BOTH the door is open and the lights are turned on.

l googled ''Lights on alarm'' UK and this was the first relevant result

l have 5 Peugeot 205 is & 3 of them r driven daily. (1984, 86, 90, 91, 93) None of them has this ''buzzer feature''. The earlier model 305 had it as a standard feature.

You can buy a little buzzer at the car parts store. Less than 3 pounds, I'd guess. This little buzzer has a red wire & a blue wire. You follow the directions, putting the wires into the fuse box. Stick each wire into the same slot as the fuse.

One wire goes into a fuse that is always ''ON'' without the key, & the other wire goes into the ''Lights'' fuse.

When u turn the ignition off, & forget to turn off ur lights, the buzzer sounds. It has nothing to do with ur door.
l bought my buzzer at a big department store , MAKRO, in the automotive section.
Tell ur local garage mechanic & make him feel ''uninformed''.

have you tried turning them off after you turn them on is how l do mine. you know long time ago someone told me it would run the battery down and you know what they was right just turn off what you turn on

check and see if the inside light comes on when you open the doors
if not it might be a door switch

It can be fixed but the mechanic is a smart man because he knows Peugeots and all Euro car are nightmares to work on and he is smart, he wants nothing to do with them and neither should you.
