When l left my 06 model 307 on a hill l had the hand brake on and before l left it went to the boot to get things out & it did not move & no light is had come on as a warning. when l came back to the car it was down the road having crashed into another car. Both the dealership & Peugeot say that there is nothing wrong with the brakes - they would would not they - but cannot explain why it happened. l have heard that something to do with the brake discs contracting when they cool could be something to do with it, Has anyone else heard anything like this happening as l am now a lot out of pocket for repair to 2 cars & have no idea why really. l have lost confidence in my car and constantly pull the hand brake on so hard l fear it will break any day but it was on that day as witnesses will testify

it could have not pulled right up, a simple way to get your confidence back is to always leave it in gear , as this will stop it rolling anywhere unless you put the clutch down , never heard of it before

Blimey! Maybe it does have something to do with the brakes cooling, but it still should not roll back like that (that is the whole point of a hand brake is not it?!!)
l would get back in touch with Peugot and get them to sort it out, if it was an old car then maybe it would be slightly more understandable but your car has not even had an mot yet so there should be absolutely nothing wrong with it,not 1yr old!

It is not uncommon. l work near a large carpark which is on a steep slope. At least once a month a car will roll out of its space, sometimes into another car, sometimes just a few metres out of the space

As ur discs & pads cool & contract they release their grip & the car can move.

Do not yank the handbrake on too hard as over time u will stretch the cable, which will lead to an MoT failure & another bill!

As has been suggested just leave it in gear. It is free, easy & safe.

ok dizzy well did the dealers do anything to the car when inspecting the brakes ??? if not park car on flat with engine running aplly handbrake 3clicks only put car in first and try pull away dont go mad just try make car move slightly the rear of car should go down as the brake bites you may move a little but only little then in reverse try the same the rear of car should rise on 3 clicks as an o6 plate brakes should be good enough to do that if not peugeots problem it is

Did you pull the gear up correctly?

If so, you should check to see what condition your breaks are in.

yes it happened to my 306 it was because my hand brake cable got lose so now l always leave car in gear and in gear when parked with handbrake off so handbrake doesnt lock on too
