Hi All,

l recently bought a 1994 Pug 205 1.8 diesel Mardi Gras which only came with one key and no remote key fob.Unfortunately l managed to run the battery flat today and an immobilser has kicked in and l cannot start the car (l did not know it even had an immobiliser!)

Is there anyway to easily bypass the system and get the car running again or will l have to go to the main dealer which l guess will be very expensive?

Cheers
Mark

The 1994 Peugeot 205 does NOT have an immobilizer to my knowledge. l own 205 is from 1984, 86, 90, 93, 94. And l have the Haynes Manual that covers all models from 1983 to 1998. There is NO MENTION of an immobilizer.

How did u try to start the car with a Flat battery? Did u buy a new battery? Did u get a ''jump'' from another battery?
The negative ground wire is VERY important. It must be secure, & ur battery must not be ''ruined'' by lack of water inside & neglect & age.

Perhaps the starter motor & /or solenoid is defective as well. If the solenoid will not slide upon receiving 12 volts, then u will hear NOTHING, & the car wo not start. Try tapping on the solenoid with a broomstick or hammer handle, to jar it a little. You may get one more start out of it.

You can also try to ''bypass'' the solenoid. First, APPLY HAND BRAKE, put car in neutral, & the key in the second click position. Secondly, remove the little thin wire attached to a copper blade on the solenoid. By putting a short screwdriver between the heavy RED wire (12 volt positive) & the little copper blade, the starter will receive 12 volts directly from the battery.. & START!

If u want to buy a used starter & solenoid for ur car, the diesel 205 & the diesel 405 r the same thing.
good luck.
