My Partner has a Peugeot 306 and the heater has stopped working completely can any kind soul advise as to some basic things that l can do to fix it myself and if possible direct me to a free website with images. l aint that mechanically minded but with the current financial climate and the fact im unemployed would hope to attempt it myself thanks
Thanks Trevor alittle information for you the fan isnt working at all, nothing happens when you turn the dial, no air comes out apart from that which blows thru from the engine once you have traveled a fair distance, also the cigarette thing doesnt work ( we only use it for the tomtom ) do you think its more than likely a fuse l dont know about that 12v of current l aint got a clue bout how to go about it,ill just remove them fuses, its a right old banger runs well but half the things dont work!!!

The heater has stopped working?
Do u mean the heater blower fan does not come on?
..check fuse number # 5 , 10 amps, in most 306's.But in the last years, expensive ones, fuse 22 for heat & airconditioning blower, plus fuse MF2 under the bonnet, 60 amps.

Do u mean that it is not as hot as it used to be?
..have the thermostat replaced. Your engine is recycling luke warm water, & the water cannot become HOT, to heat up the interior of ur car. This thermostat cost just a few pounds, & l can give u PHOTOS to replace it yourself with just a 10 mm spanner.
Here is one photo to show u the area u have to open on ur engine. More photos if u ask me.

Finally:
Your heater blower (fan) could be old & burned out. It is located under the dash, below the glovebox. Find the Two wires that r connected to it, & directly add 12 volts DIRECT CURRENT. Careful, u must know which wire is the ground, & which is the 12 volt positive to battery. Usually a ground wire is yellow, yellow/green, yellow/white. brown, or black.
adding 12 volts should make the fan spin very fast.
If u need a replacement, the same fan can be found in an old 306, 205, 405 model.
l will include a photo of a fan later today...patience, while l go photograph one of mine...
