l was driving around 30mph when l put my foot on the accelarator it felt like it clicked and became loose. Whentrying to get it back home it was struggling and had to near enough put my foot all the way to the floor to gain speed of 20-30mph??!!

Perhaps a cable or rod has snapped, or a nut is loose. Your probably best taking it to a garage instead of fiddling with it yourself. If the nearest garage is too far away for you to ''safely'' drive it, then either call someone out like the AA, or rent a truck and transport it that way.

There is a spring at the end of your accelerator cable. This spring forces the pedal to return to slow speed. Depressing the pedal tightens this spring. It has broken in the 90 degree turn at the end of the spring..
Your cable just lies there with no pull to it .
Find it, and see that it has no resistance anymore. Replace it. l think it only takes a screwdriver to remove some screws??? l am not sure.
