My fuel gauge has not worked for while and l wondered if it is likely to cost much to repair or what may be causing the problem. The car is a Peugeot 206 and year is 2000- Any ideas? Thanks

Remove the rear seat & u will find a large grommet in the floor, remove it. Under the grommet u will find a unit with 2 pipes & a plug on, remove the plug.
You will now require a resistor of a value between 60 & 260 ohms. Connect the resistor between terminals 5 & 6 of the plug & then turn on the ignition. If the gauge now makes a reading it is the unit in the tank thats faulty if it doesnt it is probably a faulty instrument panel, but before replacing the instument panel have the wiring checked from the tank to the panel.

(note be aware of second hand instrument panels as if the mileage reading on a second panel is higher than ur own mileage when u plug it in ur mileage will increase to the new higher mileage, this new mileage is also stored in another control unit so even if u later replace the panel with a brand new one the mileage will still read the higher mileage)

but as an experience there was a problem in BS l (a control unit) of p206. the result of this problem is what you mentioned(fuel guage)
i suggest you to upgrade your BS l is version in a dealer.

Any Peugeot is an electrical nightmare.good luck
