Where is the tachometer sensor on a 96(N)Peugeot 405 diesel estate LXDT (Tachometer doesn't work.suggestions?)?

l have a petrol 405 estate. Never had a problem with the tach.
But my father in law has SEVEN diesel cars, plus more diesel engines just sitting around.
l will telephone him & see if he has an answer for you...might take a day or so.trevor.

NEWS: l HAVE TWO BOOKS now:
Source 1 says: sensor tachometer driveshaft. #140. This is a reference to the electrical schematic in the book. apparently the sensor is along the driveshaft.
Source 2 shows the sensor has 3 wires on it. The wires will be stamped with the numbers 112, 112A, 112B.
This source also shows that the only thing attatched to the gearbox, is the speedometer cable. NOTHING for the tachometer.
Therefore, l suggest u look along both driveshafts, left & right, for a sensor with 3 wires.

l think for a 96 peugeot 405, there is not a speed sensor. it must connected to cluster by wire.
however, sensor or a wire must be on the gearbox of the car, on the right side.
