im having problems locating timing marks on a 206 gti (134bhp) 2003 l have found the top 2 pin holes but cannont find the flywheel lock pin! also in the autodata book it shoes this car with 4 bolts holding on the bottom pulley but this car only has one centre bolt so there is no lock hole? l have contacted peugeot but they have qouted me £500 + vat to replace the belt and wont give me any infomation. please have you ever heard of a problem such as this? im not sure now that the engine is what it should be? ive been through diagrams but still cant understand why this car is different from the book? thanks

The lock pin goes into the flywheel for the crankshaft.Its a hole beside the starter motor.You can use a drill bit of the correct diameter if you do not have a peugeot lock pin set?Hope this helps

he may need the corect pin they are difficult to get in the flywheel as the pin is cranked ( if l remember correctly ) you have to align everything corretly to get the flywheel locked , you need somebody experienced , be careful if that baby moves its curtains.

It is hard to find. it might be easier to take the starter motor off to find it.
It is a 6mm hole.
You can get the engine roughly at tdc by removing no 1 or 4 spark plug & using a long screwdriver down the plug hole. then turn the engine slowly backwards & forwards until the pin goes in & locks.
l made a locking tool using an old drill bit & a bit of welding wire to hold it

EDIT: if the old belt has not broken then carefully make ur own marks with a bright paint stick.
l do most cambelts this way as it is quicker than reading the book or using locking pins. just make 100% sure that they r lined up properly.
