found a 206 at car sale, they are asking £2400 in south wales (very average price for this car in this area) the end of the dipstick had snapped off, the break light didnt work first time and am going for test drive today! they said it would be PDl checked before l actually got the car so these faults should be sorted.l would like anyone with experience to advise what faults to look for before l decide to make an offer.. they said they cant do better than the mentioned price as it has been dropped by £400 already! this will completely clean me out but sitting in it other day was very luxurious compared to others l have found (apart from the well worn steering wheel leather!) As you will guess l am very interested and will need a VERY good reason not to go for it.It will be my first car and l passed my test in one so l know what they are like to drive.Parkers website offers a checklist but dont have credit card to access it.Took reg number to peugeot dealer yesterday and they gave me printout of the checks they did including HPl etc.. all clear with 2 previous owners. It has done 77k miles.PLEASE HELP! (thanks in advance)

Dipstick broken? So what sort of oil levels has it been having to tolerate? What sort of owner plays Russian roulette with oil levels for the price of a dipstick? l know you really want to get a car, l did. But does it have any service history? ther are plenty that have.

l would walk away if l were you. l know you really want a car but there are plenty out there and the little peugeot is not a rare car so you will be able to get another with a more caring owner.

If you need to ask the question , think you know the answer yourself !

We can not make the car worth buying

Do not be hasty!! you can end up regretting buying it-it sound a right 'dog' If you have doubts, which you obiviously have then walk away and do not be taken in the salesman is 'patter' A good dealer would have ironed out any faults on the car before he put it up for sale.
