hi l was just wondering if in a peugeot 306 1.9 TD the valves can hit the pistons ??
timing belt snapped while l was driving last night and a friend of mine asked me to check if the valves can hit the pistons and bend ??

Yes the valves hit the pistons.
normally on this engine it breaks the camshaft and or cam bearing caps.
Remove the rocker cover and take a look.
