l am thinking of buying a peugete 206 is there any problem with this car?

Honestly, it is a 206, a discontinued model by Peugeot. already the world is buying 207 is . But the 206 is a ''world car still made in Indonesia, Nigeria, India, China.

Here on YAHOO ANSWERS, l have seen several questions about the speedometer problems. The 206 has an electric speedometer, therefore no cable to repair. If yours goes bad, it is an expensive replacement.

Also, several questions about the difficulty in changing the headlights. Difficulty in changine gears smoothly.

REMEMBER.. that EVERY CAR HAS PROBLEMS. This site is full of people & their problems, even BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, & all the cars with better reputations than Peugeot. A used car is a Used car. They require maintenance, as every brand does.

Some serious problems have been reported with the UK VERSION of the 206, and, in rare cases, symptoms such as engine cut outs have occurred at high speeds, which have then lead to other faults, such as the steering lock being engaged while the car is in motion. A group of 206 owners based in the United Kingdom came together online & formed a community named ''The Peugeot 206 Info Exchange'' to discuss problems they had experienced, coming up with solutions & helping other drivers with their knowledge. Recently, some British members managed to take on Peugeot on the BBC television programme Watchdog. Peugeot has since admitted that there may be some problems throughout the range but as of yet they have not been able to fully identify them.

Update: Some of the problems concerning erratic tickovers & engine cutouts have been identified as problems with the engine is ECU; many owners have complained of the high costs that dealers charge for the replacement ECU however they can be bought at a reasonable price online.

Some of these simple problems can be fixed by replacing the Sagem branded coil pack fitted on some production batches of cars.

l have peugeot 206 2000 model, honestly whatever you do, do not buy one, my car along with thousands of others are plagued with problems from warning lights randomly coming on, to rattling noises, idling problems and the list goes on, ive got a total of 7 problems that need to be fixed on my car at the moment, and it is gonna be cheaper to sell it then get them all fixed up
