l have asked a few times about this clicking kind of sound (a bit like a lolly stick in a bike wheel) on my Peugeot 106.l have had a new drive shaft but its still doing the noise and even getting worse (or maybe being a girl, l am just listening out for it even more)
A few answerers suggested a bolt or bearing could be wearing. How much would this cost to fix?

Im annoyed at my mechanic as l said that l wanted it sorted rather than putting off.He said that there was wear on some bearing but it was not urgent and ''could wait''- til when??!!l just wanted it sorted so think that l will go elsewhere with this problem. He also said that maybe it was something ''stuck to the breakpad''

The noise you are describing sounds like a drive shaft/constant velocity joint problem?Your car has two drive shafts, so l would suspect the other one?Wheel bearings whine/groan,they dont click? If its noisier when you turn corners? then its a drive shaft problem? Hope this helps

Hmm l just read all ur past CAR questions & . Yes, it sounds like CV joint clicking. but ur question NOW, HERE was about the cost of a bearing. And ur personal mechanic also used the word 'bearing'. l hope l have not mislead you, but here is my answer about bearings:

Your mechanic might have meant the ''intermediate bearing'' of ur Right side driveshaft. But this would be a constant griding noise like a small cement mixer.??? The intermediate bearing is replaceable, but takes more time than replacing the entire long driveshaft.

Most small Peugeots use the same bearing in the center of the front wheels. l do not know the price for the ''genuine Peugeot'' part, but l always buy a replacement by SKF bearings.
Any shop specializing in bearings will have a book to tell u the exact bearing for ur 106 front wheels. The same bearing will fit right or left side.
The COST for one side here in Belgium was 57 euros. (= 35 pounds??)
l will predict the SKF bearing number is ..VKBA 882..

Two front bearings for 106 gti...60 pounds:

Two bearings for 40 to 50 pounds, depending on model of 106: scroll down to see photos:

PS: Silly to imagine, but the same clicking sound is produced when all 4 wheel lugs (bolts) r NOT tight. Tyre wobbles & clicks.
