ok so when l start the car up now l get a tapping noise! its the same tempo as when l rev, and if l push the clutch in it go's. I've read about cracked manifolds, and sticking things - tappets etc.....any ideas??? and is it potentially a really bad thing??!?! aghh ta

If the sound goes away when you push in the clutch, It could be the throwout bearing. with your foot off the clutch, it just kind of sets there and if the bearing is bad, it will make noise. With your foot on the clutch, the bearing is under load, so the sound goes away.

Hey, i've found the same issue with my 206 (2000 model). l took it to the garage as being a novice mechanic any tapping noise that was not there before is not good!! The mechanic let me know that it was totally normal for peugoet is & is the injector rail. I'd suggested to him the tappet is & he dismissed it saying it was definetly the injector rail.

I've done over 5000 miles since with no problems (apart from an unrelated thermostat seizure!). There is no cure & u start to not notice it after a while.
