Had my peugeot 206 MOT'd a week ago by the peugeot dealer and it passed. However, on the form printout they gave me, it stated that the 2 front tyres were in very poor condition.l got them changed at Kwik Fit and Kwik Fit then said that I'd something wrong with the brakes (he went into all the terminology, but the gist of it was, he had to 'strip all the brakes down and see what exactly is wrong').l said to him, ''But it only just passed it is MOT last week''.He then said, ''Yes, but anything could have happened between then and now with the brakes''.l told him I'd think about it, but in the meantime, l decided to take it back to Peugeot and after a check, they repaired the problem and l had to pay over £100 for it.What do you think here?

l think that cars cost alot of money!
It can take ages before you find a garage you trust. Once you do find one though stick with them. As for your problem, it could be that the brakes were adequate to pass the test but not in peak performance. £100 sounds like pretty good value from a main dealer if they replaced the discs and pads, but l know that kwik fit has a ''brakes for life'' offer on, that is that they will replace the pads for free for as long as you own the car

l would trust Kwik Fit as they found the problem and Peugeot didn't.

l think you may have a case against peugeot. if there was even the hint of a problem with your brakes, it should have been picked up at the MOT. i'd write to head office & tell them what is happened. tell them you no longer have any faith in the MOT & are concerned something else may not have been picked up on. good luck, auntie di.

Hi there.
kwik Fit cannot be trusted, they always find something that needs doing - u pop in for a tyre & they ''Just notice'' a piece of work they can do for you.
It depends what the brake problem actually was. The MOT is a simple test, it wo not detect every problem on the brakes - but if Peugeot thought it needed doing, then they should explain exactly why they missed it on the MOT. l do not believe u can develop a £100 problem is a few days, not on brakes anyway.
Good luck, Steve.
