hi, l have a loud noise coming from the back of the car, l think it;s the fuel pump it;s vibrating alot . what could it be? should l try to remove it and refit it ? l do not thinks it is affecting the car but you never know. l have my mot next week and dont wanna fail . thanks

yea the sound is on all time, a friend of mine sugested that the fuel filter might be blocked and thats forcing the pump , what do you think ?

Is the noise only there when ignition is turned on?

Is it still there when care is not moving?

If answer to yes is both then it may well be the fuel pump.

You should attend to it as soon as possible. If it is vibrating it may get loose & cause a fuel leak.

Also, the pump may fail internally & the engine will then cough & stop. Fine if u r in a traffic jam (well, not that fun) but imagine if it goes when u r overtaking a couple of trucks on the motorway!

lift up the back seats you should see two large back rubber bungs remove the left one and the pump is situated below it check the outer ring is tight
