l have a 1.4 peugeot 306 xl 1994 and it keeps overheating, if l run it 4 at least 10 mins then the fan will kick in, iv bled the system, but it stil overheats l realy dnt knw wat the problem mite be, any 1 had the same problem or any suggestions?

sounds like you need a new thermostat.

This is a serious problem leading to the warping of the aluminium engine head. Usually a temp gauge is slow to respond to the actual temperature, & warns u toooo late.

1. Check ur coolant LEVEL!!!
2. Check ur coolant reservoir
3. check for loss of coolant while engine is running, underneath the water pump area. (lower left side of engine as u look down on it)
4. Thermostat may be stuck in closed position, not allowing any water to escape the engine block. TEST: From a cold start, start engine, & OPEN the radiator cap. Stand there (with a torch = flashlight) & wait 5 minutes to see the water flowing past. Keep an eye also on the temperature gauge on the dashboard, & an ear open for ur fan motor. NO FLOWING water??? thermostat is stuck. buy a new one & install it (photo below of what to expect).
5. Only two bolts need be removed, leave rubber hose attatched to thermostat housing neck. see photo.
6. Install thermostat in the correct direction. Add more coolant/water mix. Bleed air from high-rise bolt shown in the photo.
