Peugeots r not particularly upmarket, but in many area of the world, they have established a reputation for reliability & a cushy ride. In undeveloped nations, Peugeots r frequently pressed into service as taxis.

The French cars never made much of a splash in the U.S., & it is been probably 25 years since one was imported here. Part of the problem was the French systen of taxing vehicles according to engine displacement, which meant buyers here were struggling to keep up with traffic.

The best-known Peugeot in the U.S. was the ratty 403 Cabriolet driven on television by Peter Falk is Lt. Columbo.

The French are lovers, not car makers. The detective Collumbo drove one (known for his wrinkled overcoat and yesterdays cigars). They are junk and most people would not notice or care. They are of poor design (as are all French cars). Want to be noticed? Buy a Ferrari.

As a matter of fact, YES. It means you will soon be in a class called 'poverty' because you will spend all of your money on constant repairs.
Ugh.

What l like about Peugeot is it feline line & fresh look. All frech made cars have style & modern lines. (Citroen C4, Renault Laguna & Clio, Peugeot 207 & 407)
l live in a third world country as many people call us, & certainly Peugeot is not a car that other people will look at u unless u have a nice body.
If u want class get a Mercedes or BMW. l know people who own luxury cars like Hummers, Infinity or Lexus & they do not have any class. They look like a fish out of the water.
Remember this: You give class to the things u own not backwards.
