on my peugeot 206 there is milometer and i guess service interval indicator. is there a trip/distance setting

l had one - l am sure it is in the same display, press & hold the button to reset the mileage.

In a normal car on the speedometer there is the mileage indicator and the other (below) is the trip/distance mileage. If you have a button coming through the dash panel this will be the reset.
Cars do not normally show the service countdown continuously.

Yes, but you have to hold the button for 3 seconds til the display flashes and it will then return to zero. It is very annoying that there is not a separate trip meter- they have put this right on the 207 and it is a separate indication from the mileometer.

None of the so far are right.
l have a 206 so l know!
When the actual mileage of the car is displayed (i.e. after the miles until a service has gone) press the button to the bottom right of the speedo. This will then show the trip reading. it is only when the trip reading is shown that you can reset it by holding the same button for 3 secs.
