l am thinking of buying a peugeot 206 2.0ltr HDi. Does anyone know any of the common faults with this car that l should look out for on the test drive? Useful comments only please, l know they are french.

I've had a Peugeot 206 for 4 months now, lovely car, only 5 years old.
The only niggly things l have found is the 1st gear pops out sometimes and the car is easy to stall and jolts quite bad when it stalls.

l found it was difficult to put it into reverse sometimes. It is a nice little car. Mine was black :-)

They look chic but u should bargain heavily because their residual values r poor (remember this when u think of selling).
They tend to have an uncomfortable driving position,the cabin is a bit drab & they r a bit short on space compared with others in this class.Its known in the trade as the value option,so my advice is to spend just a little more & buy the 207,it has most of the things the 206 does not have like a quality cabin,a smoother drive & noticeably quieter.Test drive the 206 then book a test drive in the 207 before u buy.If u r determined to stay in the 206 class then a Suzuki swift is a far,better buy in my opinion (only my opinion though)But after saying all that, l am referring to newer models,you must be thinking of an older one because l believe they only go up to a 1.4 or 1.6 hdi these days which makes it an even bigger reason not to buy one.the only good thing about an older 206 deisel is the engine.

Stay well clear of these clap trap dungers.
Invest in a Lada for reliability and power

yer the gearbox in them are not to good but thats about it or and frogs jumping out the glove box lol

Have a look at parkers.co.uk. They have full reviews for all cars. whatcar.com have video reviews too for many cars.

Its a nice little runner but l have to say driving position is not very comfortable and brake pedal and clutch are too close also gear box is not as smooth as you would expect.

Other than that l have had it for a while now and seems to be doing the job .
