the passenger side electric window doesent work. l noticed that in the night the button for the window doesent light up either whereas the drivers side does. but l beleive it is 1 fuse the electric windows but im not to sure. the rev counter doesent work either. l also noticed after we had alot of rain the other day there was water dripping out of the remote central lock sensor. is this because of a seal on the sunroof?

Invest in a Haynes worshop manual and it will give you the answer to most problems you might incur during your ownership.

l am very good at answering questions on this car, except DIESEL engine related questions.
l have helped many people already on problems concerning, Electrical, brakes, steering, noises from turning wheels, clutch slipping + noises.
Please make out ur list of complaints...trevor.

YES>> the wiring that passes to the door, near the door hinges gets flexed thousands of times, breaks.and allows no 12 volt current to that door.
l think there is only one fuse for all doors & electric sunroof (my schematics r at home, l am on vacation)
Rain water enters through the radio antenna base, on the car is roof, & into the remote sensor area. Soon, none of ur door locks will open. Seal that up ASAP.

Rev counter should be looked at by someone locally. Could be a magnetic sensor, or just a worn out cable behind the tachometer. l forget if the 306 is a cable or electronic. It may depend on whether ur 306 is a phase one (early years) or phase two (later years). It certainly is not a phase three (gti petrol 6 speed).

Failure of the window switches is common. Try taking out the switch & trying the one for the drivers window, this should confirm it is a problem with the switch rather than the window. If it still does not work with the drivers switch, suspect either the wiring (check the continuity through the door connector) or the window motor.
The light for the switch is probably a separate issue, namely a blown bulb inside the switch, very fiddly to replace, but could be related to the first issue if the problem is a lack of power to that side of the car.

Someone else will hopefully help u with the rev counter, l think that l have heard this might be a common problem. first step as usual is to check that the wiring is intact & the connections r good.

With the sunroof, check the drains at each corner of the sunroof to make sure they r clear & draining water to outside the car.
