Does it unlock/lock later in the day (when it is warmer?) how about if you put the key in your pocket to warm up before trying to unlock it?
If it does, perhaps change the battery in the key remote? A battery will not give as much voltage when it is cold as it will warm.

Pugger is quite right but something else to consider is that the sensor in the roof console has water in it. (leaked through the ariel base on the roof) This may evaporate during the day and condensate at night affecting the receiver when a small pool of water is sitting in the bottom. Pull down the sensor and look inside it.
